With over thirty years of experience, E Akhalwaya & Sons is

one of the oldest spice importers in the South African

market, with roots deeply intertwined with the local

community, The business began with Ismail Akhalwaya, who

arrived in South Africa in 1926 aboard the SS Karancha

Settling first in Standerion he started his career as a

traveling salesman, buying and selling sorghum and chilies.

Eventually, he opened a store in Fordsburg, beginning a

journey that his son, Ebrahim Akhalwaya, would take to new

heights

Today, the journey continues as a fourth-generation, family-

run business, committed to the same values and dedication
